E-Quiz - International Internet Day

             The Department of Computer Applications, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth  college for Women organised the E-Quiz in celebrating International Internet Day on October 29,2020. The E-Quiz was structured in a way to make aware and spread the unknown things about the Internet. It was designed in such a manner to make the participants more involved and gained knowledge after attending it.The E-Quiz was opened from 29/10/2020 to 01/11/2020 to provide the participants with leisure time and considering the Internet Data available to the students.The E-Quiz contains 20 Questions with 50 marks.Around 577 Participants from Various Institution Faculty & Students Participated in this E-Quiz. The E-Certificate was provided to the registered participants who score above 40%. Around 484 faculty & students have secured more than 40% and the e-certificates have been promptly sent to their registered e-mail ids.We honestly thank the references to the videos & Images used for the quiz.Reference-Google Youtube Channel,code.org,wns global services,google images.We are Happy to see the Feedback received from the participants are very energetic and enthusiastic.

Webinar on “IOT and IIOT – Present and Future Perspectives”


           The Departments of Computer Applications organized a webinar on “IOT and IIOT – Present and Future Perspectives” on Sep 10, 2020. The Resource Person of the day was Dr.M.Ramesh Kumar, HOD and Assistant Professor, Nandanam Arts College, Chennai. The Resource person gave a deep insight about IOT and IIOT Technologies. He explained in the simplest terms, that how the Internet of Things (IoT) is digitally connected of everyday physical devices and how these devices are embedded with internet connectivity, sensors and other hardware that allow communication.  He also explained about the various applications of IOT in various fields.  The session was very helpful to students to know about IOT and IIOT Technologies in deep. Around 80 students participated and gained knowledge about this topic.








Workshop on “Basics of Python”

 

           A One day workshop on “Basics of Python” has been conducted on Sep 14, 2020 by the Department of Computer Applications. The main objective of the training programme was to give hands on online training to students on the basic programming concepts in the python programming language. The Resource Person of the day was Dr.K.B.Priya Iyer, Additional Controller of Examinations and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai. She shared her expertise in the python programming language and gave some informative examples.Participants took keen interest in practical work to acquire hands-on experience in the Python programming language.  Around 70 students participated and they were provided with e-certificate.

FDP

      The Department of Computer Applications conducted a National Level Faculty Development Programme on Latex in association with NMEICT, Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay from 27th April 2020 to May 1st 2020. The FDP was based on self learning method, listening to the video lectures available in the website, www.spoken-tutorial.org. About 641 faculty from 150 colleges from different parts of the country participated in this FDP and participation e-certificates were issued to all of them who have completed the training.

POWER SEMINAR

 The Departments of Computer Applications & Computer Science organized a Virtual Power Seminar on “Campus to Corporate” on May 14, 2020. The Resource Persons of the day was Mr.Subramanian, HR Functional Consultant, L& D Initiatives. This session helped students transition smoothly into corporate life. This session also gave tips to students on how to become efficient through learning the basics of corporate communication, managing time, and the mind-set shift that is required when moving from a college to a corporate environment. And also enhanced the essential academic skills, helped to develop and utilize critical thinking skills which are considered necessary for academic success. 

Carrer Guidance Programme

     The Department of Computer Applications organized a Carrer guidance Programme for the students of BCA on 28, January 2020. Mr. K.L. Venkatesan, Image Creative Education was the Resource person.

Workshop on “improv”

          The Departments of Computer Applications & Computer Science organized a Workshop on “improv” on July 03, 2020. The Resource Persons of the day was Mr. Jay Karthik, Pre-Sales Systems Engineer at Cisco Systems, Greater Boston, USA. The resource person gave an excellent coverage on Improvisation, or improv. It is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment. Often improvisers will take a suggestion from the audience, or draw on some other source of inspiration to get started. Around 50 faculty members participated and received certificates. It helped faculty members to be a more positive person, made them more creative, helped them to become a team player, a better listener, brought out their playful side and much more.

Webinar on “An Introduction to Bit coin and Block chain Technologies”

            The Departments of Computer Applications organized a webinar on “An Introduction to Bit coin and Block chain Technologies” on Aug 25, 2020. The Resource Person of the day was Mrs.J.Vijayalakshmi, Research Scholar, Dr.Ambedkar College, Chennai.The session helps the students to know about Bit coin and Block chainTechnologies. She explained each Bitcoin is basically a computer file which is stored in a 'digital wallet' app on a smartphone or computer. People can send Bitcoins (or part of one) to our digital wallet, and we can send Bitcoins to other people. Every single transaction is recorded in a public list called the blockchain. Around 110 students participated and gained knowledge about Bit coin and Block chainTechnologies.

 

Teacher’s Day Celebration

             An Online Teacher’s Day celebration was conducted by our BCA students on 5th September 2020. During this Virtual celebration teachers played Founder’s Day anniversary memorial tribute video to remember our late founder Dr.Mrs.Elizabeth Thomas with Gratitude. Even in this time of pandemic, students prepared a speech, dance and song at home, which were performed online. The students took great effort and ensured that teachers enjoy every minute. The teachers were overwhelmed with the effort of each and every student. The efforts of students were appreciated by teachers thus making the event a grand success.
